No Tracking Policy

I’m not interested in snooping around your private life

My view on tracking and so-called “big data” has changed quite dramatically over the years. At first, as a teenager first getting to know Facebook back in 2009, I didn’t care. Frankly, I didn’t know better.

Who cares what companies do with your data, right? It’s not like they are going to specifically make a person read through the profile they have built on you. Everything happens in a computer and nobody cares about the data collected.

At least I didn’t.

Now I see it differently, and I think that the way most social media businesses are structured makes us the product, and makes big companies the customers.

And every business needs to keep their customers happy by delivering their product. That can’t be good for society at large in the long term.

You will, therefore, find only a minimal amount of tracking going on at this website.

For this website, all I use is Fathom Analytics for analyzing anonymized page traffic and Mailchimp to collect your email address if you sign up for my knowledge-bombed newsletter.

No spam or yucky sales tactics.
The bombs only drop occasionally for a clutter-free inbox.

I don’t use Facebook Pixels, instadoodles or remarketing cookies. Still, because of GDPR and privacy laws, here you have the standard notice. Enjoy!

What personal data I collect and why I collect it

Embedded content from other websites

Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. Youtube-videos). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.

These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.

This is not something I can strictly control, but I try not to embed any other content than YouTube-videos, and very rarely.

Analytics

I use a GDPR-compliant and privacy-focused tracking system called Fathom Analytics. Your data is 100% anonymous and aggregated, and there are no cookies set to enable tracking. You can read more about this by clicking here.

Email addresses

I use MailChimp to collect and store your email address when you sign up for my newsletter.

Who I share your data with

The email you enter when you sign up for my newsletter is shared with MailChimp, just so I can actually send you the newsletters you want.

No other personally identifiable data is saved.

How long I retain your data

No data is stored about you on this website. I will delete all your data from MailChimp upon request.

What rights you have over your data

You can request a copy of or that I erase any personal data I hold about you. Deletion does not include any data I am obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.

Where I send your data

Your data might be transferred by MailChimp to the United States of America.
